Cheese Journeys offers you a custom-curated food tour - a “backdoor” experience allowing you to meet and learn from some of the world’s best artisan cheese, wine, beer and food producers.
During this 9-day odyssey, we will stay in North Cadbury Court (one of the finest historic properties in England), enjoy chef-prepared meals, tour scenic farms and vineyards, and spend time with world-class educators and producers - all while living local to experience the area’s finest culinary delicacies!
Tour prices include accommodations, meals as specified, day tours, tastings, ground transportation and transfers during the tour. Airfare or transportation to London’s Heathrow airport (before and/or after the tour) is not included. Prices subject to change without notice.
Maximum group size for this (9-day) tour is fourteen guests plus hosts. During our stay at the twenty-three bedroom North Cadbury Court (NCC), six to ten more cheese/food enthusiasts from the US, Europe or the UK will join our American group for the last five days (5-day tour).
This tour is designed for double occupancy, with two rooms for single guest occupancy. All rooms at Wolborough House and North Cadbury Court are unique and beautifully furnished. Each room at NCC have private bathrooms, there is a combination of private and shared baths at Wolborough House. The rooms at NCC and Wolborough House vary in décor and shape/configuration, many with options for two single beds - all are lovely. The slightly largest rooms are allocated to those guests who book the tour first. Both properties have beautiful indoor pools and exercise rooms, saunas and other amenities. Guests will travel to Bath at the end of the tour for a relaxing day/evening experience at a local spa hotel before returning to Sofitel Hotel, Heathrow airport at the end of the tour. Guests must be able to walk 1 to 2 miles per day unimpeded (including small hills, village streets, vineyards and farms); climb 2 to 3 flights of stairs, unassisted; and stand for 30 to 60 minutes during tours.
Wi-Fi and Rural Areas
Please note that our trips often take us to areas where logistics, cell-phone service, Wi-Fi connectivity, transportation and dining parameters may be different than those in the U.S. This makes traveling to these areas unique and special. We advise guests to embrace the differences, minimize the need to do remote work using your phone and computer during your travels and let us provide you with an amazing experience on a trip of a lifetime!
Payment, Cancellation and Refunds
A $2,000 per person non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a space on the tour. A guest can also pay the full amount of the tour at the time of the reservation. If only a $2,000 deposit is made, the balance is due 60 days prior to departure. Invoices and reminders will be sent.
Cancellations made by the Guest
Cancellations made before March 1, 2018, will result in the loss of the $2,000 deposit. If you, as a guest, paid the full amount upon booking the tour, and need to cancel the booking before March 1, 2018, Cheese Journeys will refund the amount paid, less the $2,000 deposit and any transaction fees. As a courtesy, Cheese Journeys will gladly honor your deposit paid for up to one year when applied to another tour. Exceptions to this cancellation policy cannot be made for any reason, including personal emergencies. There is no partial refund for leaving a tour early or arriving late. Cancellations made by you, as a guest, after and including March 1, 2018, will result in the loss of the full amount paid for the tour.
Cancellations made by Cheese Journeys
Though very unlikely, Cheese Journeys reserves the right to cancel this tour in the event of insufficient enrollment (ten or fewer people) by March 1, 2018. All deposits will be returned to guests within fourteen days. We will email all guests during January and February to provide updates. Cheese Journeys also reserves the right to cancel a tour in the event of an emergency, global unrest or unsafe travel conditions. In which case, all monies will be refunded to the traveler by Cheese Journeys within fourteen days of the cancellation.
Cheese Journeys does not provide you, as a guest, with travel insurance - but encourages you to contact your insurance company or airline to enquire about types, fees and coverage to determine if travel insurance is advantageous to you when booking this tour.
Changes to the Itinerary
Cheese Journeys has the right to make slight changes to the stated itinerary. This may be due to weather, availability or emergencies of hosts, producers and cheesemakers. We will do our best to keep any changes to a minimum.
Cheese Journeys photographs class activities, sights and guests while traveling for use in brochures, publicity, and on our website and social media accounts. Please notify us if we are not free to use photographs of you.
Release of Liability Form and Questionnaire
At the time of booking, Cheese Journeys will provide you with a release of liability form requiring your review and signature. We will also provide you with a detailed itinerary, suggested travel tips, a questionnaire, and will contact you by phone to discuss details of this tour and answer any questions you have. Once the required documents are completed and returned to Anna Juhl at Cheese Journeys, your tour booking is complete.
