Join Anna Juhl of Cheese Journeys and Tenaya Darlington, aka Madame Fromage, in Belgium and the Netherlands for this exciting spring getaway during the heart of tulip season!

While these two featured countries are small, this tour is jam-packed with unique and interesting food and beverage experiences: private backdoor meet-ups, and tastings with some of the world’s greatest cheese affineurs, beer producers, and chocolatiers. Discover Amsterdam’s canals, historic neighborhoods, and thriving food scene -- more than just stroopwafels and Bitterballens! Imagine spending time with the “Julia Child of Cheese,” renowned affineur and educator Betty Koster, owner of Fromagerie L’Amuse, visiting small artisan producers, seeing lush fields of flowers in the countryside at Keuchenhof Gardens, and meandering small villages in the historic Beemster Polder.

After six days in the Netherlands, you’ll venture south to explore Belgium, a country beloved for its beer, seafood, waffles, and world-class chocolate. You’ll tour breweries -- including Cantillon (the premier maker of wild-fermented lambic) in Brussels – and taste Belgium’s famous Trappist beers and saisons. Plus, you’ll have time to relax in Belgium’s cozy beer cafés, famed for long beer lists and hardy cuisine including mussels & fries. Enjoy a private beer-and-cheese tasting at one of Brussels’s best fromageries, plus a chocolate walk that will change the way you think about pralines. Your stay includes a daytrip to the canal-lined streets of Bruges, a UNESCO World Heritage City, that is full of – you guessed it – craft breweries, chocolate makers, and brasseries.

By the end of your stay, you’ll be an expert in cheese, beer, and chocolate. And you’ll have experienced a variety of Dutch cuisine, thanks to home-cooked meals prepared by our private chefs Sylvain Jamois and Milo Waterfield. You’ll return home with recipes – thanks to their cooking demonstrations – and a treasure trove of specialty foods so that you can host a special evening of cheese, beer and chocolate as you share your travel stories.
